چکیده
Abstract Based on 35-yr (1982–2016) best track and Statistical Hurricane Intensity Prediction Scheme data, this study examined climatology of rapidly intensifying (RI) slowly (SI) events as well their time evolutions storm-related environmental parameters for tropical cyclones (TCs) in both North Atlantic (AL) eastern Pacific (EP) basins. Major hurricanes were intensified mainly through RI while depression storms SI. The percentage TCs that underwent peaks the late hurricane season whereas SI early. For first literature, found have significantly different characteristics than before-, during-, after-event stages. In AL EP basins, always intensify faster during previous 12 h, are located farther south, warmer sea surface 200-hPa temperatures, greater ocean heat content, larger divergence, weaker vertical wind shear, westerly flow all event-relative basin, low-level midlevel relative humidity 850-hPa vorticity stages most EP. associated with more convectively unstable atmosphere away from maximum potential intensities

Large-Scale Characteristics of Rapidly Intensifying Tropical Cyclones in the North Atlantic Basin
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) and Statistical Hurricane Intensity Prediction Scheme (SHIPS) databases are employed to examine the large-scale characteristics of rapidly intensifying Atlantic basin tropical cyclones. In this study, rapid intensification (RI) is defined as approximately the 95th percentile of over-water 24-h intensity changes of Atlantic basin tropical cyclones that develop...
متن کاملEffects Of Cumulus Convection On Rapidly Intensifying Cyclones
Our objectives are a) To describe the detailed structure of the air flow in a mature hurricane, b) To understand the vertical force balance in the eye and the eyewall, c) To investigate the presence of supergradient flow in hurricanes and the underlying processes, d) To study the surface wind structures during landfall, e) To investigate the transformation of a cold-core continental mesovortex ...
متن کاملA Revised Tropical Cyclone Rapid Intensification Index for the Atlantic and Eastern North Pacific Basins
A revised rapid intensity index (RII) is developed for the Atlantic and eastern North Pacific basins. The RII uses large-scale predictors from the Statistical Hurricane Intensity Prediction Scheme (SHIPS) to estimate the probability of rapid intensification (RI) over the succeeding 24 h utilizing linear discriminant analysis. Separate versions of the RII are developed for the 25-, 30-, and 35-k...

the study reflected in this thesis aims at finding out relationships between critical thinking (ct), and the reading sections of tofel and ielts tests. the study tries to find any relationships between the ct ability of students and their performance on reading tests of tofel and academic ielts. however, no research has ever been conducted to investigate the relationship between ct and the read...
15 صفحه اولOn the Applicability of Linear, Axisymmetric Dynamics in Intensifying and Mature Tropical Cyclones
The applicability of linearized axisymmetric dynamics to the intensification and structure change of tropical cyclones is investigated. The study is motivated by recent work that presented axisymmetric solutions to the linearized, non-hydrostatic, vortex-anelastic equations of motion (the so-called 3DVPAS model). The work called into question the importance of a recently proposed nonlinear, sys...
